Well, setting up a website, even a simple one from scratch is quite a huge job.
This far, just to produce this simple web site I’m using a webiste/blog publisher called Jekyll that produces something called “static web pages”. I’ve also managed to get some buckets installed on Amazon Web Services, bought a domain name, and rerouted the domain name to the AWS buckets to display all of this stuff!
The main use of this site will be to post some of the work I’ve done, particularly with the R language. I’ve also recently done some stuff with SAS, so some of that might show up as well.
It has been really interesting working with R in particular and learning how to exploit parallel computing to parallelize a job, use many computer cores and get some big jobs done quickly. My next little goal will be to learn to do all of this on the AWS system.
I feel the need to be brave and put at least one picture in here … let’s see now, how about one from Greece this spring, see if you can guess where this might be?
Until next time.
